Backend / API Engineer, Radar

About this role

Build backend services, enterprise APIs, and platform infrastructure that help businesses detect and prevent fraud and abuse. The role includes real-time, low-latency systems and customer-facing tools, with ownership from technical design through launch and iteration.

The team

Radar team, within Payments.

What you'll do

• Build and operate reliable, low-latency fraud and abuse prevention services at scale
• Design APIs and dashboard experiences for investigating threats and configuring defenses
• Develop shared platform and infrastructure for Radar capabilities
• Work with users to turn emerging threats into useful products
• Partner with ML engineers and data scientists to productionize signals, models, and AI capabilities
• Own projects end to end, including rollout, measurement, and iteration

What we're looking for

• At least 2 years of industry software engineering experience
• Strong coding skills and experience maintaining production software
• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and make thoughtful technical trade-offs
• Use data rigorously to investigate problems and evaluate solutions
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ownership mindset and comfort navigating ambiguity

Nice to have

• Distributed systems or real-time services with demanding reliability and latency requirements
• Experience building APIs, developer platforms, or interfaces for complex workflows
• Experience bringing ML or AI capabilities into production
• Fraud prevention, abuse prevention, risk, or security experience
• Experience launching products and iterating directly with customers
