About this role

Lead energy procurement and power-delivery strategy for Anthropic’s expanding AI compute infrastructure. Secure large-scale capacity and accelerate energization by working with utilities, grid operators, regulators, and internal delivery teams.

About the company

Anthropic builds reliable and interpretable AI systems, including the Claude family of models, for businesses and developers. The company focuses on AI safety research and practical AI assistants for enterprise and consumer use.

What you'll do

  • Secure multi-hundred-megawatt power capacity through procurement strategies and commercial agreements.
  • Build relationships with utilities, ISOs, transmission operators, and regulators across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop energy-market and policy strategies to address grid constraints and accelerate infrastructure approvals.
  • Translate utility constraints and market dynamics into capacity-acceleration plans aligned with project timelines.
  • Assess regional power availability, transmission constraints, and interconnection queues to inform site selection.
  • Structure partnerships and commercial frameworks that mitigate grid-capacity risks.

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility development, or power markets for large-scale infrastructure.
  • Expertise in wholesale power markets, utility interconnection, and transmission system planning.
  • Experience securing 100+ MW of power capacity and navigating utility service agreements, PPAs, or other offtake agreements.
  • Ability to analyze energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and grid constraints.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Energy procurement experience for data centers, HPC, or AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale infrastructure and AI compute power demands.
  • Experience with energy policy, regulatory affairs, or FERC and state PUC engagement.
  • Background in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or grid-capacity analysis.
  • Understanding of energy storage, demand response, and distributed energy resources.
  • Track record of creative solutions to grid constraints and compressed timelines.

Benefits

  • Optional equity donation matching
  • Generous vacation and parental leave
  • Flexible working hours
