About this role
Lead OpenRouter’s self-serve growth engine, turning developer discovery and product usage into revenue. Own paid media, AEO/SEO, conversion optimization, and marketing measurement, while partnering with the enterprise team on demand generation. This is a hands-on director-level role with a $5M+ paid budget planned for 2027, with the opportunity to build a team as the program scales.
About the company
OpenRouter is a unified API that routes requests across large language model providers so developers can access, switch, and scale models without lock-in or complex multi-provider integrations.
What you'll do
- Grow self-serve revenue from discovery through signup, first purchase, and expanding usage.
- Plan and manage paid media across search, social, sponsorships, audio, out-of-home, and events.
- Own the SEO and answer-engine optimization roadmap for OpenRouter’s website.
- Run conversion experiments across key pages and signup and purchase flows.
- Design attribution and incrementality measurement, reporting, and paid-budget forecasts.
- Support enterprise demand generation and measurement connecting marketing activity to pipeline.
- Manage agencies and vendors, and build the growth marketing function as it scales.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in growth or performance marketing, including experience at a developer tools, API-first, or technical B2B SaaS company.
- Direct accountability for self-serve or usage-based revenue, including signup, activation, and spend.
- Owned a $5M+ annual multichannel paid budget or scaled a program from seven figures to that level.
- Hands-on experience with product analytics, attribution, and designing an incrementality or holdout test.
- Experience owning or directing technical-product SEO and a working perspective on AEO.
- Built CRO and experimentation programs with disciplined test design and analysis.
- Comfortable executing independently and building a function with agencies, contractors, and eventual hires.
Nice to have
- Experience marketing to AI engineers or building with an LLM API.
- Brand campaign experience in out-of-home, audio, or major sponsorships, measured with brand-lift studies or geo holdouts.
- Demand generation or ABM experience supporting enterprise sales.
- Experience at a consumption-pricing business where marketing is measured on usage.
