About this role
Own Anthropic’s front-of-meter power supply strategy for its U.S. grid-connected data centers. Lead market planning, sourcing, valuation, negotiation, and execution of PPAs and other supply agreements, while ensuring deals support the company’s ratepayer-protection commitment.
About the company
Anthropic builds reliable and interpretable AI systems, including the Claude family of models, for businesses and developers. The company focuses on AI safety research and practical AI assistants for enterprise and consumer use.
What you'll do
- Develop supply plans for grid-connected sites, accounting for load ramp, contract volume, price structure, term, and portfolio needs.
- Source and negotiate PPAs, tolls, capacity agreements, and other supply contracts through approval and signature.
- Manage supply requirements across competitive, regulated, cooperative, and public power markets.
- Incorporate ratepayer impacts into supply decisions and demonstrate how deals protect other customers.
- Partner with Energy Finance to assess deal value, market exposure, counterparty credit, and development risk.
- Prepare deal memos and explain commercial terms, risks, and alternatives to executives.
- Oversee counterparties through commercial operation and manage contract amendments, disputes, and operational handoffs.
- Support utility service agreements, large-load tariffs, interconnection studies, and relevant tariff and ISO/RTO proceedings.
What we're looking for
- 10+ years in power origination, structuring, or energy procurement, including leading PPAs or long-term supply contracts from term sheet to signature.
- Knowledge of at least two U.S. ISO/RTO markets and large-customer supply arrangements in vertically integrated utility territories.
- Ability to build and assess deal valuations, including fixed-price, shaped, index, and block supply structures.
- Able to read and mark up PPAs and exercise commercial judgment alongside legal counsel.
- Understanding of credit support and project finance, including developer lender requirements.
- Clear communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Experience building a book, program, or function from zero.
Nice to have
- Experience contracting power for data centers or other large, fast-ramping loads.
- Experience with firm and shaped products, storage-backed or hybrid structures, tolling, or new-build clean firm generation.
- Experience in regulated and public power territories, including sleeved PPAs and large-load tariffs.
- Time on or alongside a trading or structuring desk.
- Experience with virtual PPAs, energy attribute certificates, or hourly matching and emissions accounting.
- Experience with Canadian energy markets.
Benefits
- Flexible working hours
- Generous vacation and parental leave
- Optional equity donation matching
- Collaborative office space
