Engineering Manager, Commerce Systems

About this role

Lead an engineering team within Stripe’s Commerce Systems organization. The role focuses on expanding billing-platform self-service, enabling new pricing and monetization capabilities, and improving billing accuracy and operational reliability. You’ll collaborate with product, sales, finance, accounting, tax, and compliance leaders.

Commerce Systems, within Infrastructure & Corporate Tech.

What you'll do

• Set team strategy and priorities across monetization, developer self-service, technical foundations, and operational excellence.
• Lead engineering and design processes while coaching and mentoring the team.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships and align partners around objectives and outcomes.
• Grow a high-performing team through hiring, development, and leadership succession.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years of management experience.
• Experience leading complex teams of 8 or more engineers across multiple high-impact areas.
• Strong cross-functional decision-making, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Track record of recruiting, mentoring, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
• Ability to operate autonomously and drive organizationally significant initiatives.
• Experience collaborating across geographically distributed teams and time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience building or improving developer platforms with self-service and extensibility.
• Payments, billing, or other fintech domain knowledge.
