What you'll do
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of 5–10 systems engineers.
- Set priorities and deliver against the Runtime Fabric roadmap.
- Guide the architecture and evolution of the Baseten Delivery Network and related storage products.
- Own reliability, instrumentation, and safe rollouts for the storage delivery path.
- Coordinate storage requirements and interfaces with infrastructure, deployment, and training teams.
- Review designs and code, and contribute hands-on when needed.
What we're looking for
- Experience managing engineers in systems, infrastructure, or storage, including hiring and performance management.
- Hands-on experience with distributed storage, content-addressable storage, or large-scale caching.
- Strong systems programming background in Go, Rust, and/or C/C++.
- Working knowledge of Linux filesystems, page cache, block devices, and mounts.
- Understanding of container image structure, storage, and large-scale delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Contributions to containerd, snapshotter, distribution, or related open-source projects.
- Experience with lazy-loading snapshotters or peer-to-peer image distribution.
- Experience with EROFS, FUSE, ublk, or io_uring.
- Experience operating CDN, object storage, or large-scale caching infrastructure.
- Experience running storage services on Kubernetes.
