Full Stack Software Engineer (Python / React)

About this role

Build and maintain backend services and APIs that process data from hundreds of thousands of retail IoT devices, while contributing to React and TypeScript features. The role spans data tools, diagnostics, production support, and weekly customer releases, with end-to-end ownership of features.

Focal Systems uses computer vision and deep learning to automate shelf monitoring for brick-and-mortar retailers, reducing manual scanning and improving in-store operations.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build scalable Python backend services and REST APIs
• Develop and improve React/TypeScript frontend features
• Create monitoring, diagnostic, and data-access tools
• Analyze database queries and investigate production issues
• Debug customer issues across the full stack and support customer success
• Improve test coverage and refactor code for maintainability
• Collaborate on data formats for applications and Deep Learning pipelines
• Ship weekly releases and present completed work

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of Python or another backend language experience
• 3+ years of React and TypeScript experience
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs
• Experience with data-intensive applications or microservices
• Relational database experience, such as MySQL
• Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, and integration testing
• Fluent Polish and advanced written and spoken English

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP, Grafana, or Kafka
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or Prometheus
• Experience with MUI or Tailwind
• Experience writing Node.js or Bash scripts
• Familiarity with computer vision or IoT data pipelines
