About this role

Own Canary’s self-check-in kiosk from product specification through manufacturing, delivery, installation, and field support. Initially handle hardware reviews and program execution personally, then build the hardware team as the function grows.

About the company

Canary Technologies provides hospitality software for hotels, covering guest messaging, digital check-in, and property operations.

What you'll do

  • Write and own the kiosk product specification; select and manage design consultants and factory partners.
  • Review industrial, mechanical, and electrical designs, identify errors, and reject work that does not meet requirements.
  • Integrate an unattended payment terminal, including terminal selection, key injection, enclosure installation, and payment certification.
  • Build the fulfillment process, including freight, customs, staging, warehousing, and delivery coordination.
  • Manage spare parts and returns for units that fail in the field.
  • Hire and build the hardware team as the function grows.

What we're looking for

  • Have taken a hardware product from initial specification to units in the field at a small company, owning the whole product.
  • Have personally designed and built hardware rather than simply purchasing a finished terminal.
  • Have substantial hands-on hardware experience within the last six months.
  • Have managed outside design consultants or a factory, including rejecting incorrect designs.
  • Know enough industrial, mechanical, and electrical design to identify errors in external designs.
  • Live in New York City or be willing to relocate.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating unattended payment terminals, including DUKPT/P2PE key injection, PCI PTS-compliant installation, and gateway or PSP certification.
  • Experience managing factory-to-customer fulfillment, including customs, staging, last-mile delivery, spare parts, and returns.

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO, standard holidays, and monthly company-wide days off.
  • Birthday holiday.
  • Travel stipend to visit company hubs in San Francisco, New York, or Dallas.
  • Hotel credit for stays at Canary hotels and discounts at select partner hotels.
  • Monthly self-improvement budget and professional development stipend.
  • Stock option grant, subject to board approval.
