Head of Security

About this role

Helius is hiring its first Head of Security to lead hands-on security across its infrastructure, cloud, and production systems. The role owns incident response, security strategy, risk management, and compliance, with plans to build a security team as the company scales.

About the company

Helius provides Solana developer infrastructure including RPCs, APIs, and webhooks. It helps crypto teams build and scale on-chain applications faster.

What you'll do

• Set security direction and execute across infrastructure, cloud, and production systems
• Own incident response, including detection, runbooks, on-call readiness, and tabletop exercises
• Improve identity and access management, secrets and key management, network segmentation, logging, and monitoring
• Manage third-party and supply-chain risk
• Embed security into engineering workflows
• Lead the compliance roadmap and respond to customer security reviews
• Build and grow the security team
• Maintain the threat model and risk register, and communicate risk to executives, engineers, and customers

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of security experience, including securing high-availability, internet-facing infrastructure at scale
• Strong coding and hands-on systems engineering skills
• Deep expertise in cloud security, bare metal, and production environments
• Hands-on detection and response experience, including leading a real security incident
• Experience building or significantly scaling a security program
• Experience securing developer products, APIs, or platforms
• Strong understanding of secrets and key management
• Pragmatic, high-ownership approach and clear communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience leading a SOC 2 or similar audit
• Previous security leadership at a high-growth startup
