Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

About this role

Build and lead Anthropic’s first Forward Deployed Engineering team in Southern Europe, helping enterprise customers deploy Claude applications in production. This player-coach role combines hiring and team development with technical oversight, customer engagement, and creating repeatable delivery practices.

The team

Applied AI team, focused on Forward Deployed Engineering.

What you'll do

• Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Manage team growth, career development, technical mentorship, and engagement staffing.
• Partner with account teams and Engagement Managers to qualify and scope customer engagements.
• Review architectures and code, and support technical discovery, prototyping, and production debugging.
• Create reusable playbooks, starter repositories, integration templates, and internal knowledge resources.
• Set team OKRs and operational cadences around customer outcomes and product adoption.
• Bring customer insights to Product and Engineering to inform product improvements.
• Travel to customer sites as needed, typically 25–50%.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or a technical customer-facing role.
• 2+ years of people management experience in services, post-sales, or forward deployed engineering.
• Experience building an organization or team from zero to one.
• Experience delivering technical implementations for enterprise customers.
• Able to communicate with senior stakeholders and contribute hands-on to technical problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
