Manager, Software Engineering - External Platform

Lead a team of senior engineers building and operating reliable, extensible external platforms that power Figma integrations and AI products. Shape technical strategy with customers and cross-functional partners, and help the team deliver scalable APIs and infrastructure.

External Platform, responsible for Figma’s MCP, REST API, and Gateway integrations.

Stack

What you'll do

• Lead, support, and grow engineers building foundational infrastructure for Figma AI products
• Define technical strategy with customers and engineering and product leaders
• Manage day-to-day project execution
• Hire, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers
• Engage in technical decisions to help deliver a robust AI platform

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams
• 8+ years of engineering experience, ideally including staff-level individual contributor work
• Experience managing platform teams focused on reliability and extensibility
• Track record of mentoring and growing experienced engineering leads
• Experience scaling engineering teams and organizational structures

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP infrastructure and integrations
• Experience with LLMs or AI gateways
• Background in adjacent infrastructure domains
