What you'll do
- Coach and develop production engineers, including senior technical leaders.
- Set priorities and guide embedded work with product and platform teams; align partners on outcomes and tradeoffs.
- Improve observability, incident response, and production tooling to reduce toil and surface actionable signals.
- Guide technical direction, design, and production reviews while supporting engineer ownership.
- Anticipate reliability and scaling challenges and prioritize improvements that support product goals.
- Turn lessons from incidents and partner-team work into reusable tools and practices.
What we're looking for
- Experience managing engineering teams and developing senior engineers.
- Experience building and operating complex software systems at scale, with technical judgment across the stack.
- Experience leading cross-team initiatives, resolving competing priorities, and delivering shared goals.
- Sound judgment about reliability, security, and sustainable operations; clear communication and respect for technical ownership.
Nice to have
- Experience building shared reliability platforms, observability, distributed tracing, or cross-team toil-reduction tools.
- Familiarity with traffic management, service discovery, service meshes, container orchestration, infrastructure as code, or capacity and performance engineering.
- Experience improving incident response and reducing on-call burden.
