Senior Backend Engineer, Cloud Platform

Build and operate the AWS cloud platform that supports ClickUp’s product and enterprise growth. The role focuses on scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure, especially Amazon EKS, networking, and infrastructure as code.

What you'll do

• Build and scale AWS infrastructure and reusable platform abstractions, with a focus on EKS, networking, and self-hosted services.
• Automate shard buildouts and implement Terraform guardrails and hardened ingress.
• Scale systems for multi-shard and multi-region growth while supporting compliance, disaster recovery, and enterprise security.
• Partner with SRE, Security, product, AI, and enterprise teams.
• Own platform reliability, including on-call, incident response, postmortems, and runbooks.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, testing, infrastructure work, and operations.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years building and operating large-scale distributed infrastructure and cloud systems.
• Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting Kubernetes in production; Amazon EKS fleet-scale experience is preferred.
• Strong AWS experience, including EKS, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC networking, IAM, S3, and KMS.
• Experience with multi-account AWS environments and Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, VPC routing, DNS, and load balancing.
• Terraform infrastructure as code experience at scale.
• Fluency in at least one programming language; Go, Python, or TypeScript/Node.js preferred.
• Experience with hybrid monolith/microservices architectures and large-scale data stores.
• Track record improving infrastructure reliability, efficiency, and security guardrails.
