Senior Design Engineer - Design System & Platform UI

About this role

Build and maintain ClickHouse’s shared React design system, Click UI, used by ClickHouse Cloud and other projects. The role focuses on accessible, reusable components, developer experience, adoption, and AI-assisted UI tooling.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build and maintain accessible React components and their APIs.
• Improve component APIs, developer experience, and migration tooling, including codemods.
• Maintain Storybook, automated tests, accessibility gates, and release processes.
• Drive adoption through documentation, migration guides, issue triage, and collaboration with product teams.
• Develop AI-assisted UI tools, including Figma-to-code and component scaffolding.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of frontend engineering experience, including maintaining a production design system used by multiple teams.
• Deep knowledge of React, TypeScript, semantic HTML, and scalable CSS architecture.
• Experience designing component APIs and using headless UI primitives.
• Working knowledge of WCAG and WAI-ARIA, including keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader testing.
• Experience with design-token architecture and Figma variables sync.
• Strong documentation, code review, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Background in design systems, UI platforms, or frontend platform teams at developer tools, B2B SaaS, or cloud companies.
• Fluency with Figma and experience using AI coding tools.
