Senior Full Stack Engineer | Database Observability, Grafana Cloud

About this role

Build and improve Grafana Cloud Database Observability experiences that help users understand database health, explore telemetry, identify slow queries, and troubleshoot performance issues. The role is primarily frontend-focused, with opportunities to contribute to Go backends and APIs, and includes ownership of projects through rollout and customer feedback.

Stack

What you'll do

• Own technical projects from problem framing through rollout, user feedback, and impact measurement.
• Build intuitive, reusable frontend experiences and contribute to supporting APIs and backend functionality.
• Collaborate with product management, design, backend engineers, and other squads.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.
• Participate in on-call, incident response, and customer escalations.
• Contribute to open-source communities and share technical work.

What we're looking for

• Strong experience building and maintaining production web applications with React and TypeScript.
• Comfort contributing to backend services and APIs.
• Experience delivering complex projects, mentoring engineers, and taking technical ownership.
• Production support and on-call experience, including incident response.
• Clear communication and ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Value maintainability, automated testing, secure development, and pragmatic use of AI coding tools.

Nice to have

• Open-source contribution or maintainership.
• Interest in observability and experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar tools.
• Experience with databases, SQL, or database performance monitoring.
• Experience building backend services in Go.
• Experience using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or Tempo on-call or in a homelab.
• Experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
