What you'll do

• Build and operate control plane for distributed SQL databases
• Design reliability-focused schema and data migrations
• Own the networking stack on Kubernetes
• Deliver quarterly goals and lead team through ambiguity
• Collaborate on product development lifecycle
• Identify project or technology issues and advocate for solutions
• Monitor team’s artifacts and support on-call efforts
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience with backend systems at scale
• Hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments
• Expertise in distributed databases and technologies
• Knowledge of SQL tuning and performance optimization
• Familiar with connection poolers like ProxySQL
• Experience with automation tooling for databases
• Strong communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience with TiDB and other database technologies
• Familiarity with database benchmarking
• Knowledge of zero-downtime migrations
• Understanding of Kubernetes networking
