Senior Software Engineer - Postgres

Build ClickHouse Cloud’s new Postgres offering, developing the services and tools that manage database clusters and support end-to-end data workflows. This flexible systems role spans backend services, platform automation, Postgres extensions, and operational reliability.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build backend services to orchestrate and manage database clusters.
• Extend the platform control plane to support Postgres capabilities.
• Contribute to PostgreSQL extensions, data-plane agents, and cluster automation.
• Develop APIs and integrations for Postgres functionality.
• Improve observability, deployment safety, and debugging workflows.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, SRE, and product teams on reliability and performance.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration, extensions, operations, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience in one or more of Ruby, Go, Rust, C, or Python, and willingness to work across languages.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of distributed systems, data replication, and service orchestration.
• Comfort with greenfield development and operational ownership.
