Senior Software Engineer - Postgres

About this role

Build ClickHouse Cloud’s new Postgres platform, enabling customers to integrate Postgres with ClickHouse and support end-to-end data workflows. The role spans backend services, platform automation, operational tooling, and Postgres extensions, with ownership of reliability and customer-facing integrations.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build backend services to orchestrate and manage database clusters in ClickHouse Cloud
• Extend the platform control plane to support Postgres capabilities
• Contribute to Postgres extensions and data-plane agents
• Develop automation for cluster provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management
• Build APIs and integrations for Postgres functionality
• Improve observability, deployment safety, and debugging workflows
• Collaborate with infrastructure, SRE, and product teams on performance and reliability
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep Postgres knowledge, including configuration, extensions, operations, and performance tuning
• Strong experience with one or more of Ruby, Go, Rust, C, or Python, and willingness to work across languages
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• Understanding of distributed systems, data replication, and service orchestration
• Comfortable with greenfield development and operational ownership
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
