Senior Software Engineer - Postgres

Build ClickHouse Cloud’s Postgres platform, including services and automation for managing database clusters. The role spans control-plane development, Postgres extensions and data-plane agents, APIs, and operational tooling.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build backend services to orchestrate and manage database clusters
• Extend the platform control plane with Postgres capabilities
• Contribute to Postgres extensions and data-plane agents
• Develop automation for provisioning, scaling, and cluster lifecycle management
• Build APIs and integrations for Postgres functionality
• Improve observability, deployment safety, and debugging workflows
• Collaborate with infrastructure, SRE, and product teams on reliability and performance
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep Postgres knowledge, including configuration, extensions, operations, and performance tuning
• Strong experience in one or more of Ruby, Go, Rust, C, or Python, and willingness to work across languages
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• Understanding of distributed systems, data replication, and service orchestration
• Comfort with operational ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and autonomous execution
