Senior Software Engineer, Security Assurance

About this role

Build automated security assurance, compliance, and security observability systems for Grafana Labs’ cloud-native organization. This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on embedding security controls into development and operational workflows.

Grafana Labs builds open-source and commercial observability tools for metrics, logs, and traces, centered on Grafana dashboards. It helps teams monitor infrastructure and applications and investigate incidents.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain automated security assurance programs for organizational and regulatory requirements
• Build security observability systems, tools, and automation
• Deploy developer-friendly security and compliance guardrails in workflows and build pipelines
• Integrate security controls into the SDLC and operational processes
• Respond to customer security issues, alerts, and potential incidents

What we're looking for

• Production software development experience in at least one programming language
• Knowledge of securing containerized, cloud-native applications
• Experience automating security and compliance processes
• Strong communication skills with peers, stakeholders, auditors, and customers
• Understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, NIST, or GDPR
• Degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple cloud providers
• Knowledge of Grafana Labs products or OSS projects
• Experience contributing to open-source communities
• Experience using automation to demonstrate infrastructure compliance
• Experience securing large-scale distributed systems in public clouds
