Senior Specialist, T2 / Target2 Payment Operations

About this role

Own the operational transition from indirect to direct participation in TARGET2 (T2), including process design, UAT, migration, and business-as-usual operations. Coordinate with DNB, scheme and banking partners, and internal teams to ensure a stable launch with no customer impact.

What you'll do

• Design and document payment operations processes for SCT/SCT Inst recalls, investigations, enquiries, missing funds, rejects, returns, and refunds
• Operate T2 through its GUI, maintain CRDM reference data, and establish controls and manual-versus-automated workflows
• Manage the BIC-by-BIC migration from BNP Paribas to direct T2 participation and identify when existing dependencies can be retired
• Coordinate payment reconciliation operations with the reconciliation team
• Develop incident escalation, DNB reporting, and ECONS II contingency processes
• Work with the Eurosystem, DNB, SWIFT/NEXI, FIS, correspondent banks, Product, and Engineering

What we're looking for

• Hands-on experience with TARGET Services, including T2 or TARGET2, RTGS or TIPS, and GUI-based U2A/A2A actions
• Around 2–3 or more years in payment operations at a bank, EMI, or PSP
• Familiarity with SEPA schemes, payment investigations, recalls, returns, SWIFT, and ISO 20022 messaging
• Experience writing standard operating procedures and controls, or ability to learn quickly
• Comfort working with regulators, partners, and technical teams
• Able to make operational sign-off and escalation decisions with team support
• Fluent English

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining CRDM reference data
• Involvement in direct-participation onboarding or sponsor-bank migration
• Knowledge of DNB / TARGET-NL conditions, IPR, PSD2, or ECONS II contingency processes
