What you'll do
- Set technical direction for EKS cluster provisioning, lifecycle, node management, and shared components.
- Automate cluster creation, upgrades, and teardown using IaC and self-service workflows.
- Build and maintain delivery pipelines for shared Kubernetes components.
- Define and enforce workload reliability, isolation, and disruption-safety standards.
- Create observability, audits, and reporting to measure risk and identify operational hotspots.
- Partner with workload teams on platform needs and drive cost and capacity strategy.
- Participate in on-call and production incident response.
- Mentor engineers and promote operational excellence.
What we're looking for
- 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering.
- 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale, ideally EKS on AWS.
- Expertise in Kubernetes internals, cluster upgrades, node lifecycle, scheduling, and autoscaling.
- Production experience with Go or Python, including controllers, operators, or platform tooling.
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, and EKS.
- Fluency in Terraform and GitOps or pipeline-driven delivery.
- Experience implementing policy-driven platform standards across multiple teams.
- Strong observability, systems-thinking, mentorship, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Spacelift.
- Experience with ArgoCD, kube-applier, or similar GitOps tools.
- Experience with Karpenter and Cluster Autoscaler.
