Own the uptime, performance, and observability of Databento’s market data platform. Improve reliability across its APIs and services while helping engineering teams build and operate software effectively.

Stack

What you'll do

• Own uptime, SLAs, and SLOs across API and platform services
• Build and maintain logging, metrics, and tracing observability
• Design and operate highly available deployment and containerization strategies
• Profile and optimize Python applications for throughput, latency, and cost
• Debug production issues using OS-level tools
• Improve deployment and CI/CD workflows
• Participate in on-call, lead incident response, and run post-incident reviews
• Identify and deliver reliability projects independently

What we're looking for

• Professional experience in SRE, DevOps, or backend engineering
• Strong Python application development and performance optimization skills
• Hands-on experience with observability tooling
• Experience with containers and highly available deployments
• Comfort with Linux debugging and profiling tools
• Demonstrated measurable impact in a recent role
• Strong communication skills for remote work

Nice to have

• Alerting and incident response experience
• Configuration management or infrastructure-as-code experience
• HTTP benchmarking, load testing, and capacity planning
• Database schema design and query optimization
• Interest in financial data or algorithmic trading
