Software Engineer (Enterprise Experience, Backend)

Build backend features that help enterprise customers operate Coder reliably, securely, and at scale. Own work from design through production, including database changes, observability, auditing, and performance improvements.

Stack

What you'll do

• Build and ship features from design through production rollout
• Write database migrations that support safe, compatible upgrades
• Develop observability, reporting, and audit capabilities
• Build features that improve enterprise deployment security
• Investigate scalability bottlenecks, database access patterns, and concurrency issues
• Resolve backend issues reported by operators and administrators
• Document work, review code, contribute to design discussions, and participate in on-call

What we're looking for

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience
• Professional experience shipping Go
• Working knowledge of Go concurrency, including goroutines, channels, and sync
• Comfort with SQL, schema changes, and migrations
• Strong communication, debugging, and analytical problem-solving skills

Nice to have

• Experience investigating production performance and race conditions
• Experience with enterprise observability, audit, or security features
• Experience with cloud providers, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Experience building or operating distributed systems at scale
• Curiosity about developer tooling
