Software Engineer II

About this role

Improve the Scala, Bazel, and CI foundations that Iterable engineers use to build, test, and ship services. Own moderately complex platform projects and use AI-assisted workflows to make development work faster, safer, and more reliable.

What you'll do

• Improve tools and workflows for compiling, testing, packaging, and validating code.
• Contribute to shared libraries, frameworks, build patterns, and service development practices.
• Improve CI speed, reliability, and developer feedback loops.
• Turn recurring developer pain points into tools, documentation, automation, and platform improvements.
• Apply AI-assisted and agent-based workflows to engineering tasks.
• Partner with service teams to understand needs and encourage adoption.

What we're looking for

• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or another production language.
• Experience with build systems, dependency management, CI, or test infrastructure.
• Ability to debug complex build, test, and developer workflow failures.
• Product-minded approach to developer experience and platform adoption.
• Comfort using AI tools for engineering work, with appropriate verification and human oversight.
• Clear communication and ability to make progress in ambiguous technical areas.
