Software Engineer II, Cloud Applications

Build and operate backend services and data pipelines that power Temporal Cloud customer features, including namespaces, audit logs, and export. The role focuses on scalability, reliability, tenant isolation, and improving developer and customer experience.

What you'll do

• Build and improve services for namespace provisioning, configuration, scalability, and reliability
• Develop pipelines for high-volume usage and operational data across tenants
• Add tests, instrumentation, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and documentation
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, incident response, and production debugging
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams

What we're looking for

• Experience building and operating production backend systems in a cloud environment
• Proficiency in Go or another backend or systems language
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, concurrency, testing, and debugging
• Working knowledge of distributed-systems concepts
• Experience with databases, data pipelines, messaging systems, or object storage
• Familiarity with production observability and troubleshooting

Nice to have

• 3+ years of work experience
• Experience with Go, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Kinesis, or Firehose
• Experience with object storage systems
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, or Temporal
• Experience with on-call rotations or incident response
