Software Engineer, Payin

What you'll do

• Architect and operate low-latency, fault-tolerant payment microservices
• Integrate Indian payment flows and domestic banking partners with Stripe’s APIs
• Handle external API latency and asynchronous callbacks reliably
• Own service health through tracing, rollouts, failovers, and proactive alerting
• Scope and deliver projects from ambiguous requirements through production
• Debug production issues and improve system maintainability
• Collaborate across product, regulatory, risk, and global engineering teams
• Mentor engineers and contribute to code reviews and engineering standards

What we're looking for

• 8+ years designing, implementing, and operating large-scale, high-performance APIs and services
• Experience implementing server-side APIs with languages such as Ruby, Java, or Go
• Experience with relational and document databases, particularly MySQL and MongoDB
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Collaborative, user-first approach and ability to balance speed, complexity, and scope

Nice to have

• Experience with financial systems, payments infrastructure, or fintech
• Distributed-systems experience or work in complex microservices architectures
• Experience driving technical alignment across global, cross-functional teams
