What you'll do

• Set long-term technical direction and architecture across desktop and backend systems
• Own multi-quarter delivery strategy and partner with Product on roadmap, scope, and priorities
• Manage team budget, staffing, and investment decisions
• Coordinate delivery and agile practices across desktop and backend teams
• Ensure reliability, performance, maintainability, and automated test coverage
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical problem-solving
• Promote effective adoption of AI-assisted development tools
• Represent the team in executive reviews and communicate risks and recommendations

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or team leads
• Experience setting technical direction and architecture for a growing product or platform
• Experience owning delivery strategy, shaping roadmaps, and negotiating priorities
• Budget and resourcing accountability
• Deep experience with agile delivery processes
• Experience leading distributed, remote engineering teams
• Strong software engineering background and full software development lifecycle expertise
• Experience delivering desktop clients, backend services, or both

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex
• Experience in cloud, SaaS, desktop software, or platform engineering
