What you'll do
- Design and implement experiments in browser engine subsystems
- Evaluate efficient and accurate ways to represent and expose browser state
- Prototype capabilities for programmatic interaction with web content
- Instrument browser behavior and measure performance and correctness on repeatable tasks
- Profile overhead and document experimental results, including unsuccessful experiments
- Use AI coding tools and verify their output through debugging, tests, and measurement
What we're looking for
- Deep hands-on expertise in a browser engine subsystem and experience implementing substantial changes
- Proficiency in C++ or Rust and experience with large systems codebases
- Practical knowledge of memory ownership, concurrency, object lifetimes, and performance debugging
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar code, form hypotheses, build prototypes, and interpret results
- Strong understanding of web platform behavior and compatibility
- Experience with profiling, tracing, regression tests, or conformance tests
- Interest in AI agents and experience or willingness to work with agent harnesses and coding tools
Nice to have
- Contributions to a browser engine or experience maintaining an open-source project
- Technical leadership on a small team building a new product
- Experience with accessibility infrastructure, browser security, profiling, or automated agent-workflow evaluation
