Staff Fullstack Engineer - Platform - App Core Usage

About this role

Join Grafana Labs’ AppCore Usage squad to build and operate systems for billing, rates, usage calculations, customer cost visibility, and cloud marketplace integrations. This hands-on Staff role is primarily backend-focused, with contributions across frontend and infrastructure, and ownership extending through production support.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs for billing, rates, usage, and marketplace workflows.
• Contribute to TypeScript and React applications to deliver end-to-end features.
• Improve billing and usage correctness, reliability, validation, reconciliation, and recovery.
• Automate recurring manual work and improve operational workflows.
• Maintain Kubernetes workloads, cloud infrastructure, deployment configuration, and delivery pipelines.
• Investigate production issues and plan safe service, database, and infrastructure changes.
• Lead complex technical work, collaborate across teams, mentor colleagues, and participate in on-call.

What we're looking for

• Substantial experience designing, delivering, and operating production backend systems, including strong Go experience.
• Professional frontend experience with TypeScript and React or comparable technologies.
• Experience with distributed systems, relational databases, schema migrations, and query performance.
• Practical Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Demonstrated end-to-end project ownership, clear remote communication, and willingness to participate in on-call.
• Experience writing maintainable, well-tested software and supporting colleagues through reviews or mentoring.

Nice to have

• Experience with usage metering, billing, pricing, financial reconciliation, or customer cost management.
• Background in auditability, traceability, financial controls, or reducing operational toil.
• MySQL operations, replication, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Experience with cloud marketplaces, NetSuite, Salesforce, or BigQuery integrations.
• Familiarity with GCP managed databases, object storage, service accounts, and access controls.
