Staff Operations Engineer

Lead the architecture, reliability, and evolution of Mozilla’s hybrid-cloud and workplace infrastructure. This hands-on senior role drives complex cross-team initiatives, sets technical direction, and improves the scalability, security, and operational efficiency of infrastructure systems.

Stack

What you'll do

• Own and evolve architecture within an infrastructure domain
• Lead high-impact infrastructure projects, migrations, and re-architectures
• Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLOs, and incident analysis
• Automate infrastructure and reduce operational toil
• Collaborate across IT, SRE, Security, and service-owner teams
• Mentor engineers and maintain system documentation and runbooks

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure experience
• Experience designing and operating production infrastructure
• Expertise with VMware, Cisco UCS, and application or network load balancers
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix, networking fundamentals, and data center environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical work across teams

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code experience, such as Puppet or Ansible
• Python scripting
• Familiarity with observability and reliability practices
• Experience with containerization and modern platform tooling
• Infrastructure security experience
• GitHub Enterprise administration, including access, organization, repository, SSO/SCIM, or policy management
