Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (Decisions Orchestration)

Set the technical direction for Affirm’s checkout experience, improving the speed, clarity, and reliability of core checkout flows. Lead major frontend initiatives and help establish engineering standards, operational practices, and team growth.

Decisions Orchestration, responsible for checkout screens and the downstream orchestration and state management behind them.

Stack

What you'll do

• Set the team’s technical strategy and connect it to business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product, design, and analytics on technical trade-offs and delivery.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own monitoring, on-call readiness, testing, alerting, and incident playbooks.
• Set code review and design standards; share guidance through writing and tech talks.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to develop teammates.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years developing and architecting web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience planning and delivering major features or system changes, including deprecations.
• Strong technical judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
