Staff+ Software Engineer, STEM

Lead the design and delivery of AI-powered products that help scientists and engineers make discoveries. Work with users, research teams, and cross-functional partners to turn Claude’s capabilities into useful scientific tools and workflows.

What you'll do

• Build products that unlock scientific discovery
• Simplify complex workflows such as modeling and simulation for use with Claude
• Partner with research teams to improve model capabilities in science and engineering
• Work with academic and industry users to identify product needs
• Own technical design and delivery end to end, shipping products quickly

What we're looking for

• Experience owning software product design and delivery
• Experience building products from 0 to 1 in fast-moving environments
• Experience building AI products and translating model capabilities into useful applications
• Ability to create thoughtful user experiences for scientists and engineers
• Comfort working directly with technical experts and customers
• Enjoy solving difficult problems collaboratively

Nice to have

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years at Staff or equivalent level
• Background in a scientific or engineering field
• Experience building tools such as CAD, simulation, electronics design, or scientific computing software
• Founder or early-engineer experience building tools for scientists or engineers
• Experience improving domain-specific model capabilities with research teams, including evaluation frameworks
